The MTC Drop-Off

 Situating in the parking lot...

Diablo Cookies

Taylor reported today to the MTC.
We had a great morning with Taylor, Tal, Julianne, Eric and Spencer. The other kids couldn't come due to work and Girls Camp.
Taylor requested Mimi's Cafe for his last supper. There were at least 2 other missionary families there as well. It's not too hard to pick them out. Large group with one young-looking, clean-cut young man (lady) dressed in Sunday best.
President Pace told us that we could park in a lot on the east side of the MTC for as long as we need. Once we were ready to drop him off, pull across the street and enter the MTC. I am so glad he told us that! We took several minutes in that lot for Taylor to finish throwing the rest of stuff into his suitcase, take a few pics and say our goodbyes. He had left his box of Cafe Diablo cookies for last and those little treasures were tucked on top of his clothes. (I successfully bit my tongue in instructing him how to best pack his bag.)
The whole corner outside the MTC was filled with volunteers - directing traffic and answering questions. It was really cool to see.
When we finally pulled in to the MTC and were waiting in line to be instructed as to where to go, Spencer asked if we were going to the zoo because of all the fences. We told him yes, it is like a zoo - lots of animals on the inside and they can't get out.
We pulled up to the next available spot and 2 missionaries are there to help. The newest one stands there while the experienced starts giving us the lowdown while he helps with the luggage. It really is a drop and go. We could have just slowed down a little and had Tay jump out. It wasn't bad though, we gave hugs and said goodbye in the lot across the street so dropping him at the curb wasn't as emotional as I thought it would be. Driving away - now for that experience, a mother reserves the right to have a little moment.
